In the new year\'s address, Lee YongSup , Commissioner of National Tax Service (NTS), announced that NTS would embody a tax administration which impresses taxpayers through continued management of customer satisfaction for NTS to be completely rooted as an agency with people\'s trust.
Commissioner Lee has singled out 「Gamdong-Sejung (Tax Administration which Impresses Taxpayers」as NTS\'s catch-phrase for the new year and emphasized that the increase in taxpayer\'s confidence and 「Gamdong-Sejung」would be the best way to induce taxpayers\' honest tax return. He reassured to raise the quality of taxpayer service another level up by introducing the 「On-line Management System of Customer Satisfaction」at an early stage to enable NTS to find out taxpayers\' responses on real time basis and reflecting the results on performance evaluation.
Commissioner Lee also said that NTS would minimize unnecessary tax interference to have taxpayers concentrate on the business and support companies in difficult situations with credit crunch, etc. He believes that it is natural and necessary for NTS to strongly support the economic recovery in the tax administration aspects.
Furthermore, he added that NTS would solve tax related difficulties of foreign investors so that they can focus on their businesses with confidence and improve the systems which are inconsistent with international taxation standards.
However, Commissioner Lee made clear that NTS would perform diligently as a keeper of national economy by preventing illegitimate inheritance and strengthening illegal overseas transfer of national wealth disguising overseas investment. He opined that market economy will not be able to achieve healthy development if tax administration fails to correct moral hazard related with economic activities. Therefore, he emphasized NTS would enforce strictly against economic illegalities which obstruct activities of economic entities such as tax receipt dealer, illegitimate usurer, and illegal distribution of liquors and oils.
