The
National Tax Service announced on March 14, 2007 that it formed a group of "Honorary
Professors" comprising of retired tax officials with high standards of integrity
and expertise. This is part of the NTS effort to achieve the 2007 key initiative
of "Nurturing Future Talents" and is the first trial of its kind among government
agencies.

The
newly established pool of highly-qualified instructors will bring to the table
a broadened perspective, analytical thinking, first-hand experience, expertise,
and public-service mindset and attitude for the younger generation of tax officials
at the NTS. While offering an opportunity for ex-senior officials to serve once
again for the nation\'s tax office - their hometown at heart - on the one hand,
it will enable the NTS, on the other hand, to overcome its budget and resource
constraints and reap maximum educational results.

The
group is made of 26 former NTS officials who have made an honorary departure
after serving the organization for over 20 years, are still active in relevant
fields, and are setting good examples for the younger tax officials. Three former
ministers and NTS Commissioners, three ex-Deputy Commissioners, and eleven retired
regional tax office commissioners and assistant commissioner are among the honorary
professors who will be sharing their knowledge and experience in respective
areas of expertise as diverse as VAT, individual income tax, corporate income
tax, property tax, international taxation, and tax audits.
