Son Young-lae, the Commissioner of National Tax Service,participated in the 32nd meeting of SGATAR(Study Group in Asian Tax Administration and Research) held in Bangkok, Thailand for five days 4 November to 8 November, 2002.With Korea being assigned tohost the next meeting of 2003, he made an acceptance speech taking over the official flag of the Conference.
The SGATAR, which have 12 member countries now, was initially originated in 1970 with a view to reform and development of overall tax policies through mutual exchange of knowledge and experience on tax administration and reinforcement of the unity among the member countries in Asia-Pacific Area.
At the meeting of this year, the participants shared their opinions and discussed mutual cooperation plans among the member countries over enhancement of taxpayer service, prosecution of the tax evaders, and tax administration reform through the information & communication technology.
