○ Young Lae Son, the Korean Commissioner of the National Tax Service (NTS),
made a 5-day visit to Fradkov, the Commissioner of the Russian National Tax
Police Service (NTPS) and held a commissioners conference between Korea and
Russia.
○ At the conference, the tax authorities of the two nations had an especially
intense discussion concerning a protocol for cooperation in tax infringement
prevention and the conclusion of a protocol for the exchange of visits on the
Commissioner and Managing Official level.
○ They also exchanged their opinions and experiences and discussed the ways
to promote mutual cooperation for the enlargement of tax support for Korean
companies and the acceleration of economic interchange between two
countries.
○ At a meeting with representatives from Korean companies in Russia as well
as Koreans living in Russia, he listened to their concerns regarding any
taxation difficulties they may be experiencing, and gathered suggestions such as
increase in local financing, support for export insurance, among others.
