In celebrating the 41st Taxpayers’ Day, the National Tax Service (Commissioner Jeon, Goonpyo) designated the week of March 5, 2007 as the “Know-your-Taxes” Week.
During the event-packed week, noted public figures and celebrities will be appointed to serve as Honorary One-Day Chiefs for the tax offices in their respective districts. Companies and taxpayers that received recognition as “Model Taxpayers” at the 41st Taxpayers’ Day Ceremony will have their names and pictures posted up at the NTS website. Citizens are also invited to flaunt their creative writing skills by entering the “five-liner poem” contest currently running at the NTS Korean webpage (www.nts.go.kr). A Teenage Tax Literary Works Contest is also open to students, and a cartoon explaining basic tax information is planned for distribution to elementary and junior high schools nationwide.
