The 2007 Nationwide Management Meeting was held in the morning of January 29,
2007 at the National Tax Service headquarters in Seoul. At the meeting, NTS
Commissioner Jeon, Goonpyo announced his plans for the NTS for the new year.
The tax agency’s senior executives and management that convened for the
meeting resolved to carry forward into 2007 Commissioner Jeon’s vision
of a “Warm-Hearted Tax Administration that Taxpayers can Relate to” on the
foundation of the NTS’s stated mission of “Fairness in Taxation,” “Compliance
made Easy,” and “Willingness to Serve.”
Specific goals outlined by Commissioner Jeon were:
- Refocusing corporate tax audits toward the verification
of operational transparency;
- Leveraging tax aspects to stabilizing the overheated housing
market;
- Providing quality taxpayer service as an enabler of voluntary
compliance;
- Preparing to newly take on welfare affairs;
- Securing taxation rights in the international arena and
protecting Korean companies operating in the global
market, and;
- Raising the standard of integrity for tax officials and
maintaining greater political neutrality.
